Anson B. Nixon Statement

We are privileged to announce the Kennett Area Park Authority (KAPA) has asked CCDG to enter into a partnership with them that would grant our club oversight of Anson B. Nixon’s disc golf course and disc golf events schedule.

As a 501c(3) CCDG’s mission has always been to promote the growth of disc golf through community outreach, course development, and fostering a welcoming environment for players of all levels. Teaming up with KAPA, the custodian of Anson B. Nixon Park, presents us with a remarkable opportunity to further our mission and make a lasting impact on not just the local disc golf community, but the community of Kennett Square as a whole.

Anson has long been regarded as one of the best courses in the area, attracting players from all over. Despite facing many challenges, the course has maintained its reputation because of the monumental efforts of the countless volunteers, prior caretakers, and the community. Those efforts will be respected and appreciated as we assume responsibility.

Over the next several months our club will be assembling an Anson oversight committee, hosting workdays, developing, and implementing various fundraising efforts, and beginning the task of familiarizing the non-disc golf community with disc golf and the course.

Anson has always and will always be a public course and because of that, we welcome any and all clubs that wish to use the course. Once we have a better handle on how we plan to use the course for CCDG events we will publish a running calendar of dates and times for those events. All we ask is that you work around those events or partner with us!

If anyone has any specific questions or concerns regarding this new partnership, we ask that you direct them to KAPA at (610) 444-1416 or Info@AnsonBNixonPark.org, CCDG related questions can be directed to me at Danwi@chestercountydiscgolf.org. The decision was ultimately made by KAPA and all we want to do is match the efforts of those before us.
